HotelPronto has it all when it comes to Edinburgh
Robert Louis Stevenson said that Edinburgh is what Paris ought to be!
Like Stevenson's schizophrenic Dr. Jekyll, Edinburgh is a city of two parts. The medieval old town (now a conservation area and a world heritage site) is overlooked by Edinburgh's historic and imposing Castle Rock and sits between it and The Palace of Holyroodhouse. Sloping down from the Castle is Edinburgh's Royal Mile, lined with galleries, antique shops, of course a plethora of hostelries, which juxtaposes with modern cosmopolitan restaurants. There are many listed buildings to see and visit in Edinburgh's Old Town, including Old College, the City Chambers and the Old Moray House. Other, perhaps less touristy, areas of Edinburgh includes The Grassmarket and The Bridges, where there are interesting specialists shops to be found among the quirky side streets.
Edinburgh's New Town is separated from the Old Town by Princes Street Gardens. The New Town was first erected in Edinburgh in 1766. Originally George Street was used as the main backbone of the plan. Later developments have determined that now, Edinburgh's Georgian New Town is the largest area of Georgian architecture in Europe. Princes Street is now the main thoroughfare, which is lined with restaurants, bars and hotels overlooking Princes Street Gardens, which features theatrical performances and music at the Ross Open-Air Theatre.
Edinburgh hosts its famous Arts Festival in August each year. There are over a thousand shows that pepper the city, from opera to stand up comedy. Hotel bookings need to be made early as the city becomes inundated with visitors!
